Community
Projects
Active
Grindleford
aitchelle
and Kickstone have been working over the last year, with a
volunteer committee in Grindleford to develop the management
and use of their new sports facility. This has involved consulting
the community about what they would like to see happening,
and putting good management practices in place. The aim is
to develop a Social Enterprise as a model of good practice
in the region.
The
outcomes so far include the launch of the Active Grindleford
project in October, the provision of school holiday and after
school coaching, a skate park night and the development of
a new tennis club and women’s group. Football, Cricket
and other existing groups are also benefiting from development
support.
The
committee have also been supported to secure £45 000
from Sport England to pay a development worker on a part time
contract for the next three years.
Funding
for a web site and a programme of coaching in surrounding
villages has also been secured from the Peak District National
Park and the Local Network Fund.
Hayley
and Andrea have consulted on and produced the following documents
with the committee; Business Plan, Facility Management Plan,
Sports Development Plan, Child Protection and Health and Safety
Policies, Terms of Hire, Membership Form, Membership Spreadsheet,
Information for Users and Welcome Pack.

Feedback includes:
"It
is good to report that everything is on schedule as per the
action plan. Hayley, Andrea and tea, are kick starting the
developments in a fantastically positive energetic way. Relationships
are developing speedily and effectively."

Chinley Community Association
In Chinley, Hayley has been
supporting the Community Association in both a voluntary and
paid capacity. They have made remarkable progress in the last
two years. They have managed to secure £10 000 Awards
for All funding for development work and activities and £7000
from Local Network Fund for a new kitchen and an internet
café project for young people. They have submitted
a £250 000 bid to Lottery Community Buildings fund,
and are currently working on a £60 000 project to drain
the football pitches.
In May 2007, the Association took
on the management of the Community Centre in Chinley, and
between May and December, supported the development of aerobics,
pilates, football for over 35’s (ish!), a back to netball
group, t’ai chi, running group and ran a highly successful
Adventure Sports programme with the Whitehall Outdoor Centre.
People
living in the village are developing new friendships, getting
fitter, losing weight and are very proud of their achievements.

Partnerships and Sports Development Officers to deliver three
conferences across the County. The conferences were aimed
at 16-19 year olds, who, on completion of the event, register
as a volunteer with a local sports club, community group or
leisure centre.
aitchelle’s
role included coordinating the project teams, managing budgets,
booking facilities, speakers and dealing with the administration
of the events. It also involved the management of the events
on the day, and production of an evaluation report.
Feedback from participants on the three conferences scored
